A Competition entry for an invited competition by the city of Be’er Sheva, in the Negev desert in Israel. A Campus for a joint high school and junior-high school on a vast site with inspiring views of the desert.
The 10,000 sqm school is designed as a campus in response to the specific conditions of the site and the programme that dictates construction in three independent stages. The user-friendly buildings’ scale fit with the surrounding neighbourhood and act as a an open place for community interaction and activities in after-school hours. The use of the site and the buildings themselves were carefully designed with the issues of sustainability informing the design principles, such as the use of natural ventilation, shading elements and green roofs.
